Dr. Guruprakash (GP) Bhattal is a highly skilled and dedicated dental professional who has built a distinguished career in North America. After immigrating to Alberta, Canada, Dr. Bhattal pursued several continuing education courses to obtain a North American dental degree. He then moved to New York in 2005, where he completed the prestigious Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) program at NYU College of Dentistry, graduating in 2008.
Following his DDS, Dr. Bhattal relocated to the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), where he passed the National Dental Examining Board of Canada and earned his license to practice dentistry in Ontario. Committed to advancing his expertise, Dr. Bhattal has taken numerous advanced education courses, ensuring his practice stays at the forefront of modern dental techniques and technology.
In 2019, Dr. Bhattal returned to Alberta, where he continues to serve the Calgary community with a passion for maintaining the highest standards of oral health. With extensive experience in both general and emergency dental care, he is particularly focused on providing immediate solutions for dental emergencies, including pain management, swelling, and trauma, ensuring his patients receive timely, effective care. Dr. Bhattal derives immense professional satisfaction from improving his patients’ smiles and overall oral health, treating each individual as a valued member of his extended family.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Bhattal leads an active lifestyle, enjoying sports, outdoor activities, and nature. I graduated from Coastal Bend College in south Texas in 2008. I’ve been practicing dental hygiene ever since. In 2014 I received my local anesthetic certification at U of A.
Time has really flown by and the main reason is because I still love what I do. I particularly enjoy building lasting relationships with my patients, while focusing on their dental health needs. I try to make my patients time with me as relaxed as possible. I also believe patient education is an integral component for successful oral hygiene health.
In my spare time I love to travel, as well as be creative, like taking up jewelry making. I love working with my hands which is part of the reason why I became a dental hygienist.

I’ve been a dental assistant for many years, and I truly love what I do. My journey into dentistry began in an unexpected way—after spending so much time in the dental chair as a kid, I realized it was the field I was meant to be in. I trained at NAIT in Edmonton and spent 10 years working with a wonderful dentist, gaining valuable experience and deepening my passion for patient care.
In 2001, I moved to Calgary and joined June’s practice, where I spent the next 20 years helping create a welcoming and supportive environment for our patients. Now, I’m excited to begin a new chapter with GP and look forward to building strong connections with both patients and team members.
My focus has always been on helping patients feel at ease, and I take pride in creating a calm, friendly atmosphere in the clinic. I believe that kindness, humor, and a listening ear can make a big difference during a dental visit. It’s not just about assisting—it’s about being there for people when they need it most.

Outside of work, I’m a proud Edmonton sports fan who loves camping, playing Yahtzee, and winding down with a good glass of wine.
